This page explains the data flow from User settings through client and translator profiles into TM projects.

Most settings are made in >User Settings>Tools>TM Settings

Managing TM Systems

You can manage any number of TM systems in TOM, each with its own price matrix and reporting scheme. E.g., if  for some clients or projects you use SDL Trados Studio showing CrossfileRepetitions,  while for others you do not want to consider this match category, you will create two TM systems and assign them to clients and/or projects.

Central TM systems are defined in User Settings >Tools >TM Settings
To create a new TM system just type into the first free row in the list of TM systems (screen left ) or duplicate an existing one. To edit the new TM system select it from the dropdown list below the TM list and change the parameters.
Each system offers separate price scales for clients and translators, which can be automatically copied to new client / translator profiles, where they can be adapted individually.
TM systems can be switched in the TM window itself. E.g. if you assign a translation job to different translators Crossfile Repetitions won't apply and you want to use a TM system without CrossfileReps.
Translators can be linked with any number of TM systems, each with an individual price matrix. In a TM project any of these TM systems can be selected to match different clients' TM systems.
Each client's/translator's price scale is copied to a new TM project where it can be adapted further.

TM Reporting format

A custom reporting format is associated with each TM price matrix in a TM System. It lets you:

summarize the Trados and Across match categories, e.g. all categories charged for at the full price are to be shown in one category
name the custom categories the way you want

Summarizing the categories

In the Assign match categories column, enter the numbers given to the default categories, e.g. '1' for the PerfectMatch category. As an example, if you want to summarize the "Repetitions" category and the "100%" category into one report category, enter "23" in that report category and name it in any way to describe what it stands for.

Make sure  that the price scale in the client report corresponds exactly with the default price scale , i.e. default categories should be summarized only if they have the same price percentage assigned. Otherwise, the calculated prices  won't match the reporting information: prices are always calculated on the basis of the default parameters and not on the basis of client report parameters.

(opt.) Daily workload

This value is used to calculate the minimum duration (in no. of days) for completing a TM based translation job to allow you assess the approximate project volume.

hmtoggle_folder1        TM Reporting parameters connected with form templates

Use text templates to freely design project descriptions that go along with your TM reports. Decide:

what information you want to convey
how you want to organize the wording
what language you want to use

Text templates: definition and areas of use

TM info on printed TM reports (or PDF) generated in the TM window: the text templates for custom reports as well as standard reports can be adapted in User Settings >Tools >TM Settings >Client forms .
TM info for offers/invoices/order confirmations: User Settings >Tools >TM Settings >Invoice info .
TM info in E-Mail: offers/order confirmations/translation assignments: the existing e-mail templates can be supplemented with a 'TM information block'. Example:

-> go to User Settings >Forms >E-Mail >TranslAssignmt
-> click the  TM Report..  tab on the left to define TM report phrases
-> back in the e-mail template insert the placeholder  <<$_tm_analysis>> to integrate the TM info block into the main template.
